John Hulsman is president of John C. Hulsman Enterprises, a political risk consulting firm that focuses on foreign and macroeconomic policy issues. Previously, he served in senior research fellowships at think tanks in Washington, DC, Germany, and Holland. Dr. Hulsman has given more than 1,200 high-level briefings to the US Department of State, the Pentagon, the National Security Council, the CIA, the House International Relations Committee, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and governments around the world. He has designed, played, and facilitated dozens of war games for blue chip private sector banking and hedge fund clients, as well as governments around the world. A life member of the US Council on Foreign Relations and a former Washington, DC, insider, Dr. Hulsman has written over 640 articles, participated in more than 1,520 interviews, and given over 510 speeches on foreign affairs topics. His last three books, Ethical Realism, The Godfather Doctrine, and To Begin the World over Again, a biography of Lawrence of Arabia, have all been international best sellers. He served as the senior columnist for City A.M., where he wrote about foreign affairs and political risk. Dr. Hulsman earned an MA in modern history with international relations and a PhD in international relations from the University of St Andrews.
