Richard C. Koo

Richard C. Koo is the chief economist of Nomura Research Institute. Previously, he was an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and was a doctoral fellow of the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System. Mr. Koo has written a number of books, including The Holy Grail of Macroeconomics: Lessons from Japan’s Great Recession, and he is a visiting professor at Waseda University. In 2001, the National Association of Business Economics presented him with the Abramson Award. Mr. Koo holds BA degrees in political science and economics from the University of California at Berkeley and an MA degree in economics from Johns Hopkins University.
